Ideas for renovating a house Kevin Borland was an influential postwar Australian architect who believed that architecture is an immersive experience & not for the faint-hearted. Chamfer House, in a suburb of Melbourne, Australia, is a fine instance of Borland's technique to layout. Architects Warwick Mihaly and Erica Slocombe not too long ago renovated the house, taking special care to keep essential elements of the original. Their work earned a commendation from the native Australian Institute of Architects chapter.
"From a design perspective, coming to take note Borland's strategy to architecture, and then adapting our personal design procedure to his philosophy, used to be an appealing problem," Mihaly says. "Our intervention assumed a technique of delicate infiltration. We touched each and every area, some extra heavily than others, yet retained the property's core persona: the romantic rationalism that characterised much of Borland's later work. " Architects update an architecturally significant house in Australia at the same time as staying real to the original clothier's vision.
